Question 1

Do parents have to install an app?

Accepted Answer

No need — the Parents Portal opens in a phone browser. Signing in takes a mobile number plus the 6-digit PIN your school sends; if that PIN is forgotten, a parent can request a new one from the sign-in page. Inside, a parent sees their child's schedule, attendance records, remaining pack sessions, current invoices, and payment history. One account covers every child in the same family. The portal is locked to the mobile number registered with the family, so a parent only ever sees their own children. The page can be added to a home screen like an app if they want, but that is a choice — not a condition of signing in.

Question 2

A parent forgot their portal PIN — do they have to go through the admin?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. The Parents Portal sign-in page has a Forgot PIN option: the parent enters their own number and a new PIN is sent over the school's message channels. Admins can still reset a PIN from the tenant panel on request. A PIN stays valid until it is changed, and a parent can change it themselves from the Info page by entering the old one first. Every change is announced to the number that owns it, so a reset nobody asked for does not slip by quietly. The Forgot PIN route deliberately does not reveal whether a number is registered, and requests are throttled. A portal that helpfully answers "this number is not registered" is the easiest way to probe a school's student list from outside.

Question 3

Can parents request an excused absence from their phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes, from the Schedule page in the Parents Portal, as long as the session is still ahead of the request cutoff the school sets (a day before the session by default). The request arrives as a request — it does not change attendance directly. An admin approves or declines it, and the outcome is sent back to the parent. An approved excuse means the session does not deduct the student's pack, and grants a make-up right if the school has that switched on. The decision stays with the school because one excuse touches class quota and make-up rights at once. What Klasku guarantees is that no request is lost in a WhatsApp thread: the request, the decision, and their consequences are recorded against the same session.

Question 4

Both parents want to follow along — can there be two logins?

Accepted Answer

Yes. One family may have more than one contact, each with their own number and their own PIN. Both open the same Parents Portal and see the same children. Each contact's relationship is recorded — father, mother, grandparent, guardian, and so on — so staff know who they are speaking with. School messages go to the registered contacts, so adding a second one means the news reaches two people. What is shared is access to the child's data, not one account passed around. Revoking one contact's access — an old number no longer in use, say — therefore leaves the other contacts untouched.

I have three children at the same school — is that three accounts?

One account. Every child in the same family appears inside it, each with their own schedule, attendance, remaining sessions, and invoices. A child enrolled in more than one class gets a separate card per class. If the school switches on family consolidation, the three children's recurring invoices arrive as one sheet per branch; if not, it stays one invoice per child. Either way they are paid from the same portal. What ties them together is not a surname but the family as data: the wallet balance, the contacts, and the invoices belong to that family. A child who moves to another family — rare, but real — is moved as data rather than recreated from scratch.

What exactly can parents see in their portal?

A home page with the nearest news, the child's schedule including make-up sessions, attendance history, the balance of each pack, current invoices with a pay button, payment history, the family wallet balance, and report cards a teacher has published. From there parents can also request an excused absence before the cutoff, download a receipt for a settled invoice, and change their own PIN. What is not there: other families' children, and conversation — Klasku messaging is permanently one-way. The portal is locked to the number registered with the family, and that boundary is enforced in the data layer. Other families simply do not appear even if a page address is guessed — they are not merely hidden from the menu.

My student is an adult who signed up alone — is a parent still required?

Accepted Answer

No. An adult student is recorded as their own contact, and the same portal becomes theirs: schedule, remaining sessions, invoices, and payments in their own name, with their own number as the sign-in identity. A language class for working adults, music lessons for grown-ups, or private exam-prep tutoring therefore needs no workaround with an invented parent name. What decides the shape is DATA, not a separate setting: a contact marked as the student themselves makes every screen refer to them as the student, rather than as the parent of somebody with the same name.

A parent's mobile number changes — what happens to their access?

Staff update the number from the tenant panel, and from then on the new number is both the sign-in identity and the destination of every school message. A number can be changed at any time, but never emptied. The PIN can be resent to that new number from the tenant panel, or requested through Forgot PIN on the sign-in page. Every PIN change is announced to the number that owns it, so a reset nobody asked for does not slip by quietly. An empty number means a student who cannot be told about an invoice or a schedule change — damage that only surfaces weeks later. So Klasku refuses it as a shape, rather than warning about it in a document.
