Question 1

A student is excused — is that session lost or can it be made up?

Not lost. Attendance has three marks: Present deducts one session from the pack, Absent burns one, and Excused deducts nothing — it grants a make-up right instead, with a deadline your school sets. A make-up right is booked into a suitable session of another class. If the student attends the make-up, the right is used; if they are absent, it is burned; if they are excused again, the booking is canceled and the right returns to available as long as its deadline has not passed. Because attendance is what consumes a pack, the make-up right is born from that same single tap — staff never have to track owed sessions somewhere else. Each right carries its own state (Available, Booked, Used, Expired), so the parent question "how many sessions does my child have left?" has exactly one answer.

Attendance was marked wrong — can it be corrected?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A school admin may correct attendance at any time from the tenant panel, and the correction repairs the pack consumption with it: the old consumption row is replaced rather than stacked, so the student's balance is right again without a manual adjustment. Teachers themselves can only fill in attendance on the day of the session; outside that day the screen is locked and correcting becomes the admin's job. The history records who marked what, so "who took attendance here?" has an answer. Because attendance is pack consumption, correcting attendance means correcting money too: one stray tap deducts a session nobody used, and the parent sees the same number on their phone. That is why the correction path is kept open — even when the student's pack has already run out.

A class is canceled — does the session still deduct the pack?

Accepted Answer

No. A canceled session, whether because of a school holiday or because the teacher could not make it, consumes nobody's pack, and any quota already spent is restored. If the school switches on compensation, students whose session was canceled receive a make-up right, and parents are told through the message channels that the session is off. Deleting a holiday date restores the sessions that were canceled, so a wrong date is not permanent damage. Klasku treats a holiday as an event on the SESSION rather than as a deletion of the schedule: the pattern stays intact, the calendar keeps showing that date as a holiday, and the following weeks do not shift.

Is attendance marked by teachers or admins?

Both can, with different time limits. Teachers mark their class from a phone on the day the session runs; outside that day the screen is locked and says why. School admins may fill in and correct attendance at any time from the tenant panel. A substitute teacher gets the same right as the original teacher for that day, so a class whose teacher is away is still marked on time. The history records who marked what. The split follows the consequence, not the hierarchy: attendance deducts a student's pack, so presence marked days later changes money with nobody checking. Late marking therefore stays with the admin, who is accountable for the invoice anyway.

How long does a make-up right stay valid?

Until the deadline the school sets itself, counted from the date of the missed session — fourteen days by default. A school that wants it looser or stricter simply changes the number in settings. Each right carries its own state: Available, Booked, Used, or Expired. A right past its deadline expires through the daily check, not the moment somebody happens to open the screen. The deadline is a school setting rather than a Klasku rule, because it is the school that pays for the room and the teacher's hours. What Klasku guarantees is only this: a right that exists never disappears quietly — its state is always readable on the student's card.

How do I book a student into a make-up class?

From the student's make-up right: pick a suitable session in another class, and the student joins that session as a make-up attendee. The target class's capacity is checked at booking time, so a full class cannot be overfilled. Parents are told the make-up schedule through the message channels, and the session appears in the child's schedule in the Parents Portal. If the student attends, the right is used; if absent, it is burned; if excused again, the booking is canceled and the right returns to available while its deadline holds. A make-up attendee can still be marked even when their pack is empty, and that is not a loophole: the session they are attending was already paid for through the one they missed. Charging for it twice is exactly what makes a quota system lose parents' trust.

A student shows up in a class that is not theirs — how do I record it?

Through the make-up route, not by adding them to that class's roster. A student can only be marked in a class they are enrolled in, because that is where the pack that deducts the session lives. If the move is permanent, the action is not attendance but placement: the student is placed into the new class with a payment model, and the old enrollment is ended. Attendance history in the old class stays intact. This boundary is what keeps remaining sessions accountable. Presence recorded in a class without a pack is a meeting that was never deducted from anywhere — and at the end of the month it surfaces as a gap nobody can explain.

Can I see a month's attendance summary for a student?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Attendance history is available per student, per class, and per date range, with the status of every session. On the student's card the summary sits beside their pack balance, so two numbers that explain each other are read together. On the Pro plan, lists and reports can be exported to a spreadsheet file straight from the screen showing them — useful when a school has to attach an attendance summary to a report or hand it to a parent. A Klasku summary is not recalculated from memory: it is the same list of events that deducted the student's pack. So attendance figures in a report and the balance on a student's card cannot tell different stories.

A student does not show up without telling anyone — is the session lost?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Absent burns one session from the pack and grants no make-up right — that is the difference from Excused, which deducts nothing but grants a make-up right with a deadline. If word arrives late and the school decides to accept it, the admin simply corrects that mark to Excused. The correction repairs the pack consumption and creates the make-up right, with no manual adjustment anywhere else. Separating Excused from Absent is a money decision, not a discipline policy: one returns the session to the student, the other acknowledges that the seat and the teacher's hour were already spent. Because both are a single tap, staff never track owed sessions elsewhere.

Question 10

My class has 20 students — do I mark them one by one?

Accepted Answer

No. There is a mark-everyone-present button, after which you only change the students who are excused or absent. One save for the whole class, and every student's balance is deducted from that moment. Students whose pack is empty or expired are left out of that button and their row is disabled with their state spelled out, so no presence is recorded without a session to deduct it from. The rest saves as usual. That check runs at both attendance doors — the tenant panel and the Teachers Portal — and runs before the row is written. A quota rule guarded at only one door has drifted in this product before, so both now read the same checker.
